A 19-year-old teenager has been sentenced to to six months imprisonment for stealing a generator and fan from a church.

The judgement was passed by The judge Mohammed Marafa  at the Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court in FCT on Thursday.

Marafa however gave Mustapha an option of N30,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.

Mustapha of Byazhin, Kubwa, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to ‎charges of criminal trespass, housebreaking and theft.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that Pastor Tom Oyikpa of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on December 14, 2017.

He said Mustapha broke into Redeemed Christian Church, Byazhin, Kubwa, Abuja and stole ‎one generator valued at N35,000 and one Amplifier valued at N46,000.

Other items were one standing fan valued at N12,000, one speaker valued at N70,000 and two microphones valued at N31,000, totalling N194,000.

The prosecutor said the items were recovered from Mustapha, noting that the offences contravened sections 342, 346 and 288 of the Penal Code.

Mustapha had, however, begged for leniency.
